Over winter break, I went on a trip to Ireland. Little did I know that while I was gone some big things were brewing! I was adventuring around Belfast while Dave was asking my parents for my hand in marriage. While I was touring the Irish seaside, he was being shown his grandmother's ring. To Dave, everything was falling into place for him to propose to me in the airport when I returned.
That is, until my flight back from Ireland was delayed for a whole day and a half! He was so disappointed that he had to wait even longer to see me and I was pretty upset that I had to sleep in an airport. Finally, my plane landed in Detroit. I was tired, in day-old clothes, and just plain sick of airports by the time we reached each other, so after a long-awaited kiss and hug I was ready to get out of there. He, on the other hand, had different plans and tried several times to get me to set down my bags and pay attention. I insisted that we head over to baggage claim to speed up the process. After Dave put his hands on both my shoulders and said very convincingly, "Katie, you should really stop here set your bags down", I got the feeling something was up and did just that.

That was when he got down on one knee, opened a box that held the most perfect diamond
ring, and said "I don't want to spend another minute of my life away from you. Will you marry me?"

I'm pretty sure I let out a mini-squeal right before I exclaimed, "yes!"

And there you have it; the tale of our perfectly imperfect proposal. I'm so glad I finally got the hint!
